6 IN ORBIT 4 ON THE PLANET
On October 16, during the ExoMars mission,
the Schiaparelli lander separated from the TGO
orbital module. On October 19, the module
will enter the Martian atmosphere and land
on the planet's surface. Five orbiters and two rovers are already exploring Mars. ExoMars
and the Pasteur rover will soon join them.
The ultimate purpose of all missions is to enable a manned mission on the Red Planet.
